Teenagers run away all the time. They bolt from their parents' home because they feel they are treated unfairly and hate the imposition on their freedom and dignity. They may think they are grown up and ready to be on their own, but often realize they relied on their independence prematurely. The devastated parents could not believe their popular overachieving daughter had pulled a disappearing act. In utter desperation, they looked high and low for their only child, even after the police turned up no clues. The parents had suspected for some time that the 16-year-old had an older boyfriend. Two nightmarish months passed. Then one day, out of the blue, the girl called her parents from an unknown number. She was crying, begging for forgiveness and to be rescued. When the girl's parents described their location, the man recognized it as the family summer home and guided everyone there. The girl was found unharmed, although scared and badly mistreated. She won't be running away again anytime soon. The boyfriend was arrested.
